Generations of Passionate Breeding.

Our History

Dandaleith Angus was started by Bill Philip (Willy & John’s Father, George’s Grandfather) in 1950. Emigrating to New Zealand from Scotland, Bill moved to Southland, however eventually settled at Anui on the outskirts of Dannevirke. Bill began working as a fat stock buyer and farmer, allowing him to start Dandaleith Angus.

In Scotland, Bill was raised on Dandaleith Farm near Aberlour in the heart of Speyside, where his father, John Philip ran Dandaleith Angus Stud as well as a Clydesdale stud.

The original herd was established with Mangatoro Balfour and Tautane Bloodlines, and in later years females have been added from Rakaitai and Matahia Studs. Willy, together with his brother John, have continued to advance the business and Stud, increasing cow numbers to 220 and running them on the Mangatuna hill block at Weber, east of Dannevirke. John’s son George has returned to the family business and is running the breeding block at Weber.

Angus cattle is a generational passion and we are focused on continuing to be at the forefront of Angus breeding to provide quality cattle and genetics to our clients.
